According to HABITAT III, roughly a quarter of the world's urban population—equivalent to the combined populations of Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and the United States—lives in slums. In São Paulo, IBGE found that 1.2+ million people live in slums. These areas are becoming increasingly dense, which poses a challenge for sewage and drainage systems. Paraisópolis is the densest slum in São Paulo, and its streams have been occupied by housing. Sondotécnica presents Autodesk technology—Civil 3D, ReCap, Revit, InfraWorks, InfoWorks ICM, and InfoDrainage software—as a solution. Through building information modeling (BIM), we interpret the existing situation and can perform the simulation and validation of the sanitary sewage and drainage project, restoring the stream clean and integrated into urban life. Subassembly Composer for Civil 3D software is an amazingly powerful tool for anyone who uses corridors in Civil 3D. There are so many situations where the built-in subassemblies just won't get you what you need. In this class you'll get a chance to build your own subassemblies and see them in action in Civil 3D. We'll start off with a simple shape, and then continue on to something more complex with targets and logical decisions.

In this session, we'll showcase how to use drawing standardization, Autodesk proprietary formats, and publicly available information to quickly create dynamic near-real-time models of our sites in InfraWorks software. This process can often take hours to carefully insert each bit of information and set a style to carry out and get the desired look. However, by using drawing standards and InfraWorks rule sets, we can generate a site model in a fraction of the time—making this ideal for discussion with stakeholders and the public.

As the world grapples with the realities of climate change and rapid population growth, our traditional methods for managing stormwater have shown their limitations. The conventional focus on site-specific solutions, while essential, does not fully account for the complex, interconnected nature of urban water systems. This session will introduce a comprehensive, city-wide approach to stormwater modeling as a more adaptive and effective solution to these contemporary challenges.

With today's rise in construction, design costs, and extremely tight budgets for CAD work, we must ensure we are using the most-efficient methods in Civil 3D software to meet project demands. We can easily go over budget by overmodeling in Civil 3D. Conversely, when we fail to properly use Civil 3D tools, we can waste time and money. So herein lies the question: When do I fully model and design something, and when do I draw some polylines? When do I hold, and when do I fold? Let's take a journey into how a complex corridor model may not be best for a site plan where a feature line is sufficient. A simple polyline can represent and benefit more than a full creation of a pipe or pressure network system. As we look at keeping some things simple, there are times to make all the abilities of Civil 3D work for us. Longer roadway projects may require conditional corridors and complex targeting. How much is too much? There comes a time to think through all scenarios—or just simply show the cards.

In this technical session, we'll go through the entire corridor workflow using the new corridor interface. Here we'll look at creating a corridor with multiple baselines (alignments and feature lines). We'll also add corridor transitions to the model and review best practices. We'll also incorporate several custom subassemblies into the model. This will be an in-depth look at ways these new tools can improve our corridor model.

In this class you will learn how to prepare Civil 3D Data for use in InfraWorks, and InfraWorks Data in Civil 3D. You will learn what Objects translate between each program, and what does not. You will also learn how to get a Civil 3D corridor into InfraWorks for use in your Model.

Many architectural structures incorporate a water feature as a prominent visual component of the structure. This class will explain how to implement the Particle Flow system in 3ds Max software for architectural use. We will take you through the creation of water fountains, waterfalls, and other water features that architects like to use. We will cover the creation of Particle Flow networks to simulate water flow, and we'll discuss the use of space warps to affect the motion of the particles. In this Hands-On Labs, we'll explore the workflows between InfoWorks ICM and AutoCAD Civil 3D. While this is not a superficial, unnecessary, or overly bad sequel, this Hands-on lab will explore real-time collaboration we challenge two teams to execute a whodunnit flood simulation to save the little town of Topper. InfoWorks ICM enables team collaboration and empowers engineers to reach beyond single-purpose tools tools to evaluate various options against a multitude of rainfall events within the context of the entire watershed. This Lab will provide users the opportunity to save the town of Topper - together by leveraging Civil 3D data, and InfoWorks ICMs integrated catchment modeling to evaluate the town for possible flood damages.

In updating the Master Drainage Plan for Brookings, South Dakota, ISG faced challenges reconciling flood risk maps with community experiences. Despite a doubling of the flood-risk area, doubts arose due to discrepancies with historical records and incomplete evaluations of existing flood-reduction efforts. Using InfoWorks ICM software, ISG employed advanced modeling techniques to generate a more accurate flood map, enabling prioritization of mitigation projects. Stakeholder engagement ensured realistic modeling, leading to actionable results and strategies for water quality improvement. This approach underscores the importance of informed modeling in building resilient communities amid climate change uncertainties.

Design projects need to rely on quality data for existing conditions in order to be successful. Point cloud data collected from mobile or terrestrial laser scanning, or even from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), fit into this; however, they're challenging to use effectively on their own. This class will provide the necessary information to import, process, and extract relevant 2D and 3D features in InfraWorks software and exchange them with AutoCAD Civil 3D software for design. The class will also cover best practices for working with these large data sets and extracted features for detailed terrain and existing-conditions models. Knowledge of InfraWorks, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and point clouds will be helpful. At the end of the class, attendees will be able to use point cloud data more efficiently, and be able to extract linear and point features for further use in InfraWorks and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

In this session, we'll walk through a complete workflow starting inside ReCap Pro software, and publishing a point cloud to the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform. We'll extract linear features and bring them into Civil 3D software so we can create a simplified but highly accurate surface model. From there, we will publish the linear features as as-built information to ArcGIS Online for everyone to use. This is a workflow you've been asking for!
