Sundt Construction faced a difficult site work package that included landfill remediation. During the project pursuit, Sundt defined a new process to generate volumetric comparisons from UAS-captured data; align with the project coordinate system; and produce an engineered report. This reduced the risk of over excavation, enabled everyone on the team to see how earthwork progressed, and captured construction progress in a meaningful way. Calculating quantities in Civil 3D software produced accurate quantities and an intuitive visual, and enabled the flexibility required to track 6 different quantity types. This class will discuss the process used to bring new value through these construction technologies and demonstrate the process of generating the data.

"Sustainability" means many different things to different manufacturers. In some cases designers and engineers strive to make a product perform with greater energy efficiency. In other cases they focus on making the product easy to recycle at the end of its life or they design out restricted substances with advanced material selections. In this class, we will introduce you to the different types of bills of materials (BOMs) and show you how you can use Autodesk PLM 360 to manage them. We will discuss the different types of BOMs, such as engineering, manufacturing, and product, and how the different types will influence your solution. The class will also cover how different types of products, such as engineered-to-order, configured-to-order, or volume manufacturing, affect the BOMs. Finally, we will discuss how to get BOM data into Autodesk PLM 360 and how you can use it once it is there.

Configurator 360 cloud-based product configuration software provides a platform for rapid deployment to the cloud of configuration models that let users configure their own basic parts or full engineer-to-order (ETO) rules-driven models and everything in between. But don't stop there! The sky is the limit for processes that can be captured this way. In this class we explore how compact rules can be captured in applications that do many things besides configure products. We learn what these applications can do and how to make them.

This class will work through the process of using Simulation CFD software and Simulation Mechanical software to generate engineering data throughout the product development process in order to optimize the design. You will discover that you don't need to be an analyst or expert in finite element analysis (FEA) or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to use the Simulation software as many engineers still believe today. We will walk through the entire process of setting up and running simulations that examine how the effects of wind may directly affect mechanical properties, performance, and product design.

Most CAD/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) tools are designed to enable engineers to design and manufacture products. From the very beginning ArtCAM software has been developed to enable artists and designer to create whatever they can imagine. ArtCAM is used in a variety of sectors from jewelry and coin minting, to the design and manufacture of architectural cornicing and facades. The common theme across these sectors is the desire to produce intricate artistic forms with incredible detail that can then be quickly and easily machined or 3D printed. This class will introduce you to the process that will enable you to take a simple 2D drawing and convert it into a complex decorative relief and machine it.

If so, join us in this class as we discuss how Autodesk Inventor Engineer-to-Order (ETO) software delivers easy-to-use web and mobile interfaces for configuring products. You will also learn how Inventor ETO enables easy reuse and management of CAD data in the back-end database.

During Autodesk University 2021, we shared a developed workflow for how designers can bring data together through designing the part, the PCB (printed circuit board), and even how to manufacture the plastic components. With the complexity of electronic part designs, there are often various aspects that we need to consider in order for the part to both work and perform as expected. In this class, we’ll demonstrate how the Autodesk Fusion 360 workflow has matured to incorporate mechanical engineering aspects to smooth this product design workflow. We’ll use a sample product, the Autodesk University Digital Badge, to demo how to integrate mechanical design requirements and simulation into the product design process.
