The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (BC MoTI) plans transportation networks and provides transportation services and infrastructure for the Province of British Columbia. BC MoTI has transitioned from CAiCE and is now using Civil 3D software for consultant and in-house survey, design, and construction administration workflows. This class will detail the entire Civil 3D implementation process, including a BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based approach for the development of workflows and data handoffs, CAD standardization, subassembly and application customization, training and information dissemination, continued support, and documentation. The end product is a Civil 3D terms-of-reference document that describes all of the requirements for using Civil 3D for survey, design, and construction administration tasks, and is applicable to both Ministry staff and private sector consultants.

This session is a high-level strategy road map of how companies with a large project portfolio can use Autodesk Construction Cloud to take pragmatic steps within the Autodesk Construction Cloud user interface to benefit both in the short term and long term. We'll use real-world examples using Amazon Transportation Engineering Services (TES) as a case study. We'll work through the practical planning of using cornerstone Autodesk Construction Cloud features such as Issues and Forms, and we'll look at how building on the use of these features can lead to powerful QuickSight dashboards, and, later, robust machine learning. The presentation will be broken down into three categories: 1) The Foundation: using out-of-the-box Autodesk Construction Cloud features with specific use cases; 2) The Frame: building automations and integrations to aid in manual efforts (with a focus on Autodesk Platform Services); and 3) The Roof: advanced machine learning and AI using Amazon Web Services (AWS). For each of these categories, we'll investigate the appropriate tools available in our toolbox (Autodesk Platform Services and AWS).

The presentation will cover the 4D management of hundreds of machine installations, each with various stages of preparation work required. Previously the workflow involved comparing 2D AutoCAD layouts to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. First, we'll define the prerequisites of having a Factory Design Utilities layout, where the machines are individually laid out in 3D. The layout will then be imported into Navisworks software and prepared for the TimeLiner function. Then, we'll export a schedule as a .CSV with all the necessary details. Next, we'll import the file into Navisworks for the TimeLiner function. We'll show the process of making links, and explain all other necessary setup parameters. We'll run the sim, and export the viewport into a .PPT for distribution. In closing, you'll see an update to the original layout which then reflects in the end results. And we'll even include a change in schedule, to emulate logistical issues. The workflow helps with collaborative agile planning.

In this session, we'll look at a workflow that goes from a drawing to the output of technical documentation for high-volume production using multiple setups and machines. It starts with raw material and the use of parametric modeling and model states to break up the individual operations. From there we can use Inventor Tolerance Analysis to determine stackups and points of high risk during machining. The model is then translated to Autodesk Fusion 360 software for its machining capabilities. It quickly shows the machine library and tooling library capabilities. The Fusion 360 CAM validates cycle times and interference checks. Fusion 360 CAM data is then exported. With Inventor, the part is then made into technical drawings. Tooling and inspection documents are then populated with all the necessary data. Any part updates can be driven parametrically, validated, and updated on demand.

Considering the imminent climate crisis, we need to reduce our emissions drastically. However, at the same time, the mobility sector is steadily growing. One solution can be the Hyperloop, promising shorter travel times than air passenger travel with fewer emissions. mu-zero HYPERLOOP is a team of 50+ passionate students from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) with a mission to contribute to a sustainable future of transportation. Each year, we design and build a Hyperloop Pod using Autodesk Fusion software, and ultimately compete very successfully against other teams at the European Hyperloop Week (EHW). This session will explore how we use Fusion to design and manage a complex project with 25,000+ components and collaborate with 50+ team members. In today's environment of digital project delivery, many opportunities exist for enhancing current project delivery processes from design to construction. This sharing session will build upon last year's tech talk: "Bridging Innovative Opportunities for Digital Project Delivery." It will touch upon the innovative initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)—the Project Delivery Collaboration Center (PDCC)—which had a soft rollout in Spring 2024. The PDCC is meant to be a one-stop shop or hub for project managers. The initial rollout familiarized teams with the backbone of the solution, Autodesk Construction Cloud. As the PDCC continues to develop and evolve, integrations with department systems and other off-the-shelf solutions will be implemented. A few key integrations in development are with Asta Powerproject Vision, Bentley Systems' ProjectWise, Sitelink, and Voyager. Behind the scenes, the PDCC is not one solution; but to the end user, the intent is that it appears as one.
