This is a practice exercise, video solution
00:06
for this practice exercise.
00:07
Let's begin with the supply data set suspension, exploded, view dot F 3D.
00:12
We want to get started by navigating to the animation
00:14
workspace and moving the play head into our scratch zone.
00:18
We're going to rotate this around until
00:19
we're at approximately this orientation which allows
00:22
us to see the top and the left side of our view cube.
00:25
Then we want to expand our components and we want to expand each subassembly.
00:30
Let's go ahead and move the play head out to about two seconds
00:34
and begin by going to transform and selecting transform components.
00:38
We want to move the entire wheel away from the assembly.
00:41
Notice that when we do this,
00:42
we aren't able to see where our pivot point
00:45
is because this is part of a larger assembly.
00:48
We're gonna start by going to set pivot
00:50
and we wanna move our pivot point until it's at the back position
00:54
and then we're gonna select the green check mark.
00:57
Now we can grab the arrow and we can move this away from our assembly.
01:02
Once we have the wheel entire away from the assembly,
01:04
we're gonna left click and then we're gonna move
01:06
our play head forward to about four seconds.
01:10
Next, we wanna move the inside rim away. So we're gonna select rim front
01:16
and we're gonna pull this away
01:18
left click and we'll select the tire and we'll pull the tire away as well.
01:24
These happened at the same time and now we're
01:26
gonna move the play head to about six seconds.
01:29
Next. We want to move the front upright, which includes two ball bearings.
01:33
We're gonna select the entire subassembly and we're gonna pull this away.
01:38
We're gonna left click and then we wanna select the inside bearings.
01:42
We're gonna go ahead and pull this bearing
01:44
back slightly left click and we'll pull this bearing
01:48
away
01:50
once again,
01:50
these happened at the same time over that same period of time in our timeline.
01:55
And what this means is as these components
01:57
start to move away from the other assembly,
01:59
the bearings will speed up or slow down depending on their orientation.
02:03
We're gonna move the play head forward to about eight seconds.
02:07
And the last thing that we need to do is we need to separate the hub and the rotor.
02:11
So we're gonna select the brake rotor and
02:12
begin pulling this back toward our upright.
02:16
Once we're done, we can say, ok, and we can play back the animation.
02:21
So we've got the wheel and tire moving away
02:23
and then you can see the tire continues to move
02:26
and then everything else separates.
02:28
Keep in mind that when we're using an animation,
02:31
the last time in the timeline is going to
02:33
be what's used for things like detailed drawings.
02:36
Also,
02:37
keep in mind that the views are going to be
02:39
standard views unless we've pres saved a name view,
02:42
name views aren't available in the animation workspace.
02:45
But if we navigate back to our design,
02:48
the orientation of our assembly is still going to be the same.
02:51
So under our named views, we can right click and create a new name view.
02:55
And we're gonna recall this exp for exploded view.
02:59
That way if we happen to use the
03:01
explosive view animation downstream in a detailed drawing,
03:04
we'll have a name view that represents the orientation that we saw here.
03:09
Also keep in mind that movements such as camera movements will be captured.
03:14
So if we drag the play head forward to roughly 10 seconds,
03:17
we can rotate the assembly around.
03:20
And then as we play through the entire animation, once again,
03:23
the wheel entire move away,
03:25
we have the upright and bearings and then we have the rotor
03:27
and then the entire thing is gonna rotate around based on our view
03:31
at this point. Let's go ahead and make sure that we save this design before we move on.
