Using Factory Assets to Create a Factory Layout in AutoCAD and Inventor

Module overview

The overall goal of this module is to demonstrate the development of 2D and 3D factory layouts by leveraging assets from the Autodesk Factory Design Utilities. In this module, you will learn how to create a 2D layout in AutoCAD using references to divide the overall layout into logical zones. It will also demonstrate how to use the Factory Design Utilities and the Asset Browser to locate layout components and generate conveyor chains. Finally, you will learn how to sync the layout to Autodesk Inventor to generate a complete 3D model, as well as sync back to 2D to amend the layout in AutoCAD.  

This module takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. By the end of the module, you should be able to:

• Create a 2D layout with AutoCAD and Factory Design Utilities
• Use references for the initial 2D layout, as needed
• Place layout components using the Factory Design Utilities Asset Browser
• Use chain assets to create conveyor runs
• Sync the 2D AutoCAD layout to a 3D Inventor model
• Amend the 2D AutoCAD layout
