Creating load combinations

Any referenced datasets can be downloaded from "Module downloads" in the module overview.

Create load combinations - Exercise

In this practice, you will step through the process of defining load combinations of various types.

  1. Open the project Small Medical Center – Load Combinations.rvt.
  2. Select Load Combinations from the Analytical Model panel on the Analyze ribbon.

  3. It will result in displaying the Structural Settings dialog box with the Load Combinations tab active.

  4. Define the Ultimate combination ULS1 corresponding to the load 1.4*DL1. It can be done by:
    1. Selecting Add in the top part of the dialog box
    2. Specifying the Name (ULS1) and State (Ultimate) in the appropriate cells of the table in the top part of the dialog box
    3. Selecting Add in the bottom left part of the dialog box
    4. Specifying the Factor (1.4) and corresponding case (DL1) in the appropriate cells of the table in the bottom left part of the dialog box

      Above actions will result in filling and updating the Formula cell in the table in the top part of the dialog box.

  5. Repeat above actions to define the following Load Combinations.


  6. Save the model.
