Guided Exercise - Design Space
Exercise - Design Space
Â
Obstacle Geometry: Â
Entities selected will NOT be included in the final shape. Furthermore they will be treated as a barrier or obstacle for the design process
Used to keep critical openings, such as mounting features, or tool access. Could also be used to represent physical obstructions the design needs to avoid.Â
- Select Obstacle Geometry from the Design Space ribbon menu.
- The two (2) Obstacle connectors should already be selected as Obstacles.
- Select [Left click] two (2) large extrusions at either end of the body (as seen below).
- Click OK on the dialog with the 4 Bodies selected - Bodies will be colored Red.
Â
Â
Preserve Geometry: Â
Entities selected will be included in the final shape.Â
Used to keep critical geometry used for mounting or where loads or constraints might be associated.
- In the browser click the Eye to hide the Obstacle Regions.
- Select Preserve Geometry from the Design Space menu.
- Select [Left click] on the four (4) Cylindrical bodies (as seen below).
- Click OK on the dialog with the 4 Bodies selected - Bodies will be colored Green.Â
Â
Â
Starting Shape: Â
Entities selected will give initial shape to the design. Body will be modified based on goals and constraints.
*This exercise does not include Starting Shape.
