We'll be looking at how the Job Processor can automate certain tasks to increase your productivity,
00:14
and optimize business and collaborative processes.
00:18
Over the years, the Job Processor has become one of the biggest business impactors for Vault customers.
00:26
Using one or several Job Processors,
00:28
you can take the workload of the individual users while the Job Server cues the submitted tasks and job Processors line up to do the work.
00:40
Is that simple enough?
00:42
Well, it should be once you have a good understanding of how it all works, how the components fit together,
00:49
what the requirements are, and how this will work best in your organization.
00:55
You will need to make decisions as to what you use the Job Processors for, whether you can justify having a stand-alone Job Processor,
01:04
license usage, and hardware versus time loss to users, and what to expect when the Job Processor cohabitates on designers' machines.
01:16
And when you bring it down to collaboration, which is the topic of this series,
01:20
it is easy to see how automating repetitive tasks can improve the collaboration workflows.
01:28
Jobs are submitted to the job server when a user checks in a file which needs a visualization file created,
01:36
a user invokes an update view command inside of the Vault Client Application,
01:42
autoloader is used to load files into the vault and visualization files are needed,
01:49
a status change occurs on a file and an updated visualization file is needed.
01:55
A user invokes a "Create PDF" command inside of the Vault Client Application.
02:01
A status change occurs on a file and an updated PDF file is needed.
02:07
A status change occurs on a file and a custom job is needed.
02:11
Or, a status change occurs on a file and properties need to be synchronized in the file.
02:19
So, here is an example of how the Job Processor complements Vault's collaboration functionalities.
02:27
Imagine that you have to provide a customer with an up-to-date PDF of an Inventor drawing,
02:33
each time the file gets to the Full Review state in its life cycle.
02:39
With the appropriate configuration, when you change your state to Full Review,
02:43
a job is created in the queue and the Job Processor creates a new PDF file and stores it in the Vault database.
02:53
Vault then uses its Project Sync functionality to upload the file to the relevant folder in Fusion Team.
03:01
Finally, a customer receives an email notification.
03:05
For this example, he has access to this Fusion Team hub and he has enabled email notifications.
03:14
Now a few words about the Enterprise add-on for Vault.
03:19
This add-on is a set of proven data management components which are not part of the core Vault product,
03:26
and which is developed, supported and maintained by Autodesk consulting.
03:31
The reason I mentioned this add-on is that it adds many additional jobs to the Job Processor,
03:38
such as: It can publish on add checking events, it has cancel conditions,
03:45
you can create compound jobs, multiple jobs in a defined order,
03:50
you can do single multi select and folder publishing,
03:55
and you can send email notifications upon life cycle state change.
04:01
If you wish to know more about this add-on, please contact your Autodesk representative.
04:08
I hope this presentation was informative about how a Job Processor can increase your productivity,
04:14
and optimize business and collaborative processes.
