Pipe network schema mapping in Civil 3D

Use schema mapping to map attributes in ArcGIS data to pipe and structure properties in Civil 3D.

00:03

With pipe network schema mapping, you can map attributes that have been defined in ArcGIS data

00:09

to the pipe and structural properties that are used for the pipe network in your Civil 3D model.

00:15

Begin this example by first using the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS

00:20

to successfully bring ArcGIS data into Civil 3D.

00:25

Now, with Civil 3D open to the appropriate design project,

00:30

first select the pipe data you want to bring into your drawing.

00:33

The Schema Mapping dialog box displays, which you use to map attributes in ArcGIS data to pipe and structure properties in Civil 3D.

00:43

Within the dialog box, there is a tab for each pipe or structure layer you are bringing into Civil 3D,

00:50

so you can define the mapping parameters for each layer.

00:53

For this example, in the Schema Mapping dialog box, in the Structures – Sewer_Structure tab,

00:60

change the Inner Structure Diameter* Default Value to 60.

01:04

Next, select Property Mapping file,

01:07

choose the Civil 3D Connector – Begin.json file, click Open, and select OK.

01:15

Using pipe network schema mapping in Civil 3D allows you to easily map attributes from the GIS data

01:22

and populate them in your pipe network.
