Create a conceptual layout of a proposed sewer line in your InfraWorks model using existing ArcGIS data, then change the feature class of the proposed pipes.
Transcript
00:03
In InfraWorks, you can conceptualize a new sanitary sewer line
00:07
using precise geographic information system (GIS) data to create a proposed sewer line layout in your InfraWorks model.
00:15
In this example, knowing the existing location of the sewer line from the GIS data
00:20
allows you to make the connection to the proposed sewer with confidence.
00:24
To begin, with your model open in InfraWorks, create a new pipeline for your proposed sewer system.
00:31
On the ribbon, Create tab, Drainage panel, expand the Drainage drop-down menu, then click Pipeline.
00:39
The Select Draw Style catalog appears.
00:42
Select the Orange Pipe pipeline for this example.
00:46
If you prefer to use different pipeline styles than those shown in the Select Draw Style catalog,
00:51
you can create and edit pipeline styles using the Style Palette instead.
00:55
Next, in your model, on the existing sanitary sewer line, click to add the starting point for the new line.
01:02
Click again to place a point for each bend along the predetermined layout for the pipeline.
01:08
When you are done, double-click to finish the pipeline, and then return your view to the sewer line starting point.
01:14
Now that the layout is in place,
01:17
you can change the feature class of the proposed layout so that it will inherit the ArcGIS attributes of another feature.
01:23
Select the starting point of the proposed sewer line.
01:27
From the dialog box that appears, click Change Feature Class, and then select Pipe.
01:33
Once the changes load, the selected pipes are assigned the Pipe feature class.
01:38
Close the Pipe panel for now.
01:40
Then, from the Data Sources panel, locate the pipe structure.
01:45
Right-click the pipe structure, and from the shortcut menu, select Save back.
01:50
A loading dialog appears, and once it is complete, your model is updated.
01:55
You can now modify and fill out the values in the newly added set of attributes.
02:01
To do this, select a pipe from your model.
02:04
From the Pipe panel, ArcGIS group, in the InsideDiameter field, set the value to 3.0 feet,
02:11
and, inside the Length field, set the value to 323.0 feet.
02:16
Then, since the feature class has been changed to a feature that is in the model,
02:21
you can perform a Save Back to the data source and the new line will reflect in ArcGIS Online—not only the line work,
02:27
but also the updated attribute information that was added in InfraWorks.
02:32
To review the changes, with ArcGIS open, select a pipe from your model and review the data in the dialog box.
02:39
As you can see, the pipe data is accurate, so the changes are now reflected accurately in the model.
