Add a multileader with block content

Create a multileader that includes a block as its content rather than a text note.

00:04

When you add a multi leader,

00:06

the content placed at the end of the multi leader

00:08

can be either multi line text or a block.

00:13

Multi leaders are created on the current

00:15

layer using the current multi leader style.

00:18

The easiest way to place a block at the end of a multi leader is

00:22

to define a multi leader style that includes the block you want to insert.

00:26

But if you already have a block to find in the current drawing,

00:30

you can include that block on the fly as long as you know the name of the block

00:35

on the annotate ribbon in the leaders panel, click the multi leader tool.

00:41

When the program displays the first multi liter prompt, right,

00:45

click and choose options.

00:48

When you do

00:49

the program prompts you to enter an option,

00:52

choose content type

00:55

the program then prompts you to select a content type,

00:59

select block.

01:02

When you do the program prompts you to enter the block name.

01:06

In this case, the exercise drawing already includes a block named tag circle,

01:12

which happens to be a circle with an attribute.

01:15

This creates a call out that can be used for things like part numbers

01:20

be aware that you must type the block name and then press enter.

01:25

If you do not enter a valid block name,

01:28

the only other way to get out of this step is to press escape to cancel the command

01:33

and start over.

01:36

Start the multi leader command again.

01:38

Right click and choose options,

01:41

select content type

01:43

and then select block.

01:46

When the program prompts you to enter the block name, type, tag circle

01:53

and press enter.

01:55

Once you enter a valid block name, the previous prompt repeats.

01:59

So you can specify other options

02:02

when you are finished, adjusting other options, select exit options.

02:08

Now the program is back to prompting you to create the multi leader.

02:12

Click to locate the arrowhead and then locate the landing.

02:18

Since the tag circle block includes an attribute,

02:21

the program displays an edit attributes, dialogue.

02:25

In this case, the attribute should be a single number

02:29

in the enter tag number field, type one

02:33

and then click OK to close the dialogue.

02:36

As soon as you do, the multi leader is created and the command ends

02:42

start the multi liter tool again,

02:45

right, click and choose options

02:47

and then select content type.

02:51

The program remembers that the last time you chose this option,

02:55

you specified a block.

02:57

So you can simply press enter to repeat that selection.

03:01

When you do,

03:03

you can see that the program also remembers that

03:05

the last block you used was called tag circle

03:09

press enter to use that same block again,

03:13

then exit from the option selection

03:18

again, locate the arrowhead

03:20

and then the landing

03:23

this time in the edit attributes, dialogue

03:27

in the enter tag number field type two and then click OK to close the dialogue

03:33

again. As soon as you do, the multi leader is created and the command ends

03:40

start the multi leader tool again.

03:43

But this time when the program prompts

03:45

you to specify the leader arrowhead location,

03:47

simply select a point in the drawing.

03:50

The program then prompts you to specify the leader landing location.

03:55

When you select that point.

03:57

Instead of prompting you to enter the attribute value, you see the text editor,

04:02

contextual ribbon and the program is ready for you to enter text.

04:07

When using the options to specify a block. As the leader content on the fly,

04:13

you must choose options and go through all those steps each time.

04:18

Since the appearance and content of multi leaders

04:21

is determined by the multi leader style.

04:24

If you need to create some multi leaders that include text

04:27

and others that include blocks,

04:30

it is much easier to create a multi leader style for each

04:34

and then select the desired multi leader style

04:38

to get the desired appearance and content.
