Create dimensions

Create linear, diameter,  and radial dimensions and create dimension breaks in Fusion.

In this activity, you will learn how to create linear, diameter and radial dimensions and create dimension breaks.

Prerequisites

  • Activity 1 is complete.

Steps

  1. Initiate the Dimension command.

The Dimension command creates linear, aligned, angular, radius, and diameter dimensions based on the geometry you select in a drawing view. You select points, edges, or existing dimensions, then place the dimension on the sheet. The most appropriate dimension type is created automatically.

    1. From the Dimensions Toolbar, select Dimension.
  2. Create the first dimension.

    With the dimension tool active:

    1. Select the first edge of the top view.
    2. Select the second edge of the top view.
    3. Place the dimension to the right of the view.
  3. Create the second dimension.

With the dimension tool still active:

    1. Select the edge of the bottom right circle.
    2. Place the dimension to the right of the view.
  4. Create the third dimension.

With the dimension tool still active:

    1. Select the edge of the bottom left corner.
    2. Place the dimension to the left of the view.
  5. Create the fourth dimension.

With the dimension tool still active:

    1. Select the center point of the bottom left circle.
    2. Select the center point of the bottom right circle.
    3. Place the dimension below the view.
  6. Create the fifth dimension.

With the dimension tool still active:

    1. Select the first edge on the left.
    2. Select the second edge on the right.
    3. Place the dimension below the linear dimension below the view.
  7. Create a Dimension Break.

The Dimension Break command creates a break in a dimension line or leader line where it intersects another dimension line or leader line.

    1. From the Dimensions Toolbar, select Dimension Break.
    2. Select the last linear dimension you created (2.75).
    3. Click OK.

Activity 2 summary

In this activity, you:

  • Created linear, radial, and diameter dimensions.
  • Created a dimension break.
