In the Frame Generator, several commands are available for modifying frame members and applying end treatments.

In this tutorial, you apply trims and miters to a framed robotic arm assembly.

From the Quick Access Toolbar, click Open.

Navigate to where you saved the project files, select the 3D Frame Generator_002.iam assembly file, and then click Open.

This assembly was started as a 3D sketch, and then had frame structures added to each segment.

These structures are overlapping, so you can now create end treatments to clean up and finish the design.

On the ribbon, in the Design tab, Frame panel, click Trim/Extend.

In the Trim/Extend dialog, click Frame Member.

In the display, select the four vertical and two front diagonal members for trimming.

In the Trim/Extend dialog, click Face and then select the bottom face of one of the upper members for the trim face.

Then, click the green plus sign (+) to apply the trim and create a new trim/extend operation.

Select the four vertical members again, click Face, and then select the upper face of a bottom member for the trim surface.

To apply a trim to one side of three of the middle members, select the inside face, and then select the members to be trimmed.
