Create new metrics using custom factors.
Transcript
00:04
Insight provides a helpful set of predefined metrics for use on your analysis dashboard,
00:08
but you may want to create custom metrics that are tailored to your specific needs.
00:13
Data from Factors, Model Data, Analysis Results and Metrics
00:18
can all be used to build formulas that define these custom metrics for your analysis.
00:23
In this example, custom factors have already been defined: PV-Array Coverage, PV-Array Output, and System Efficiency.
00:32
Now, they can be used together to create a new metric that represents the amount of energy generated
00:38
relative to the roof installment of PV panels.
00:42
To create a custom metric, from the navigation bar, select Manage Metrics.
00:47
In the Manage Metrics dialog, under Get Started, you see a list of default metrics, and below that, any custom metrics.
00:56
In the toolbar, click Add, and enter the necessary details.
01:00
Here, the new metric is named “Renewable Energy” and described as “Total PV-Array output”,
01:06
with a Unit Type of Energy, and the Display Unit kWh.
01:11
Under Formula, use the data tree to identify the variables to include in the metric.
01:18
The data is divided into categories, including Factors, Model Data, Analysis Results, and Metrics.
01:26
Each has a tooltip with more information.
01:29
You can also click the How do I manage metrics? link to access the relevant Autodesk Help page.
01:36
To build the formula, select data points from the list,
01:41
then insert the necessary mathematical operators between the data points.
01:46
For this example, select the previously defined System Efficiency, PV-Array Output (kWh/m2), and PV-Array Coverage (%) factors,
01:56
and type the multiplication operator (*) after each.
01:59
Then, to add a factor representing the area of the roof, enter “roof” in the Search field,
02:04
and select Area – Roofs (m2).
02:08
Once the formula is complete, click Evaluate formula.
02:13
A green check mark next to the result indicates a successful test.
02:17
Click Add to add the new metric to the My Metrics list.
02:22
Now that you have created a new metric, you can use it in formulas to define new metrics.
