When creating a process flow in FlexSim,
00:06
the Decide activity sends a token to one of two or more possible activities based on conditions that you define.
00:13
From the Decide activity Quick Properties, you can define these conditions using many different methods,
00:19
such as diverting tokens to activities by time.
00:23
In this model, a process flow is already set up to represent a truck delivering packages to different sites based on the time of day.
00:31
Note that the times are shortened for this example, but the properties remain the same.
00:36
Here, if a delivery arrives between 8:00AM and 8:10AM, the truck is sent to the NorthQueue.
00:43
For deliveries arriving between 8:10AM and 8:20AM, the truck is sent to the SouthQueue.
00:49
If a delivery arrives at any other time of day, then the truck delivers the packages to the OffsiteQueue.
00:56
In the ProcessFlow, click the Decide—here, it is named DropOff based on Time—to see how this activity is set up in Quick Properties.
01:06
Below the name, the Send Token To drop-down determines the logic used by the Decide.
01:12
Here, it is set to Connector By Time.
01:15
You also see the Connectors Out menu, set to the first Connector, as well as a connector Name of 8:00-8:10,
01:23
the destination set to Assign NorthQueue, and a Rank of 1.
01:29
Click Edit Properties to view or set the time criteria for each connector.
01:33
In this example, the Default Case is set to Connector 3, which is the OffsiteQueue.
01:40
Below that are two sets of starting and ending times.
01:43
These specify the ranges during which the truck will be sent to Connector 1 or 2 for delivery at the NorthQueue or SouthQueue, respectively.
01:52
All other times, the truck will be sent to the default.
01:56
Now you can use a Decide activity in your process flow to divert tokens to activities by time.
