To document and detail your models, create section and call out views.
00:11
The tools to create new views of your model are on the View tab of the ribbon.
00:16
You can add section views from any view except 3D views.
00:20
In this example, we will add a building section from the first-floor plan view.
00:25
Click the Section tool, then click the start and end positions of where the section is cut.
00:35
Use the controls at either end of the section marker to control the symbol family displayed
00:40
or use the arrow control to cut the section in the other direction.
00:45
The dashed lines indicate the extents of the section, and you control them with the grips,
00:50
or by selecting the crop region and moving the controls.
01:01
Turn off the visibility of the crop region with the control on the view control bar.
01:07
Add a Call out to the section view to create a wall section.
01:11
Click Call Out on the View tab of the ribbon.
01:14
Use the Type selector to set the call out as a wall section.
01:17
This will help sorting the views in the project browser.
01:20
Click two points to define the rectangular shape for the call out.
01:25
Use grips to adjust the annotation or the boundary.
01:30
Notice that the Call Out view in the Project browser is placed in the Wall section category.
01:35
Also notice that the call out was created at a larger scale than the building section view the call out was placed in.
01:42
Again, turn off the visibility of the crop region.
01:46
Now place another call out, but this time before you place it, set the view type in the Type selector to Detail.
01:53
Click two points to define the boundary of the detail call out.
01:57
Again, it is added to a new section in the project browser and the scale is changed to a larger scale.
02:04
Detail elements are added to these views to complete the construction details needed for your project.
02:11
One more way to place a call out for detailing is to place a call out,
02:15
but on the Contextual tab, select Reference Other View setting.
02:20
This allows you to place a linked call out but does not create a reference to model geometry.
02:26
In this example, a drafting view of a typical roofing detail is selected for the linked view of the call out.
02:37
Use section and call out view types to reference specific places in a model where detailing is required.
