Review wall structure concepts.
- Start Autodesk Revit.
- In the Recent Files page, in the Models section, click New.
- In the New Project dialog box, click Browse.
- Select the default.rte template, and click Open.
- Click OK.
- In the Architecture tab, Build panel, expand Wall and select Wall: Architectural.
- In the Properties palette, Type selector, select Exterior – CMU on Mtl.Stud.

- In Properties, click Edit Type. This opens the Type Properties dialog box.
- Click the Preview button to see the wall in a plan view.
- Below the preview window, in the View drop-down, change to a Section view.

- In the Type Parameters section, next to Structure, click Edit.
- In the Edit Assembly dialog box, review the Layers of the structure, specifically noting the Core Boundaries that impact the location line of the wall.
- Click OK twice to exit the dialog boxes.
- Review the Properties information, including the Location Line and Top Constraint.
- In the Options Bar, review the settings and deselect Chain.
- In the Modify | Place Wall tab, Draw panel, select Line.
- Pick a point in the view to start the wall.
- Pull it to the left and notice the temporary dimensions, or a dimension can be typed in manually.
- Press ENTER to place the wall.
