So I'll double click on the Skin tool to open the Control window.
00:06
And in its simplest form, skin just needs one input curve and then a second curve
00:11
and it builds a straight line ruled surface between the two.
00:16
And I can then continue picking
00:18
one and then two
00:20
or I can use a drag-select to get both in one go.
00:25
Now, if these manipulators are getting in the way I can turn those off here.
00:30
And then this allows me to quickly create a lot of skin surfaces.
00:36
And it's tempting to think that we could pick all of these in one go.
00:39
But what it does is try to connect them into a single skin surface,
00:42
so it doesn't really work.
00:45
So let's now take a look at these wheel arch curves. And with skin,
00:48
I can just connect this one to this one.
00:51
And I'll put the manipulators back on and see how those work by going to a side view.
00:56
So Connect here uses the full length of the input curves.
00:59
Default goes to the shortest input set
01:02
and Extend goes to the longest.
01:06
And this can also be set in this Flow Control section.
01:09
And here with the Connect Ends option, I have Modify Range
01:13
and that allows me to custom fit the skin surface to a portion of those input curves.
01:20
So I could use this Next button in the Control window.
01:24
But I can also just directly click this curve
01:26
and let's choose the skin surface this time.
01:29
And if I use the Default option, I get the result that I'm after.
01:33
So on the front wheel arch, I've used a number of curves for each boundary.
01:38
And I can either do these one-by-one as before
01:42
or if I want to be a bit more efficient, I can use the Chain Select option here.
01:47
And that means that I can pick all of these tangent continuous curves as one input set,
01:53
and then these four as the second.
01:56
And that then creates four separate surfaces in a skin group.
02:00
And then I do the same for the inside surfaces.
