Canvas Controls – Codeblocks
As you work with code blocks in the product definitions workflow, a series of tools are available that assist with navigation and management of the working canvas. The working canvas includes a power search feature to find key values or keywords within your code block information.
To access search, you press control-F on your keyboard. The search box will appear in the upper right corner of the working canvas.
The search feature will highlight the key value or keyword on the working canvas as you type the item you are searching for within your code block information.
Searching for the keyword wall, our search result provides a gray highlight for the result found in our code block.
You can use the up and down arrows on the search dialog box to filter through the results.
Once search is activated, it will remain open for convenience until it is closed by pressing the x on the search dialog box.
The canvas control tool zoom to fit is represented by the directional arrows icon on the bottom right of the workspace canvas.
As you work with code blocks, the zoom to fit control will fit all code block information within the working canvas.
Need to place your code block information off screen of the working canvas? No problem.
Located below the zoom to fit command is the zoom center control. The zoom center control is used to zoom to the center of the working canvas.
Below the zoom center icon are zoom in and zoom out command icons.
Indicated by the plus and minus icons on the working canvas.
Clicking the plus icon will zoom to the canvas and the minus icon will zoom away.
To assist in the navigation of the working canvas, you can use the scroll bars to navigate up and down and side to side as the working canvas becomes filled with code block information.
You can access the canvas control right click menu when nothing selected on the working canvas.
This menu includes undo redo, cleanup blocks, collapse blocks, expand blocks, and delete blocks.
The undo feature allows users to revert their last action.
Or a series of actions completed on the working canvas.
And the redo feature allows users to reapply an action or actions they have undone.
As your code block information grows, and the working canvas becomes more cluttered. You can use the cleanup blocks command on the right click canvas control menu.
Cleanup blocks command will align the code blocks and tidy up the usable space within the working canvas.
The canvas control right click menu includes the option to delete blocks, which provides a total count of blocks on the working canvas and removes them when executed.
The deleted blocks are placed in the waste receptacle and can be retrieved later if necessary.
In summary, the search feature quickly finds specific keywords or values in code making management and navigation for your code block information easier.
