    Description

In June 2019, the Miami-Dade County Commission adopted a new capital improvement program at Miami International Airport (MIA) that will fund up to $5.2 billion in airport-wide modernization projects over the next 5 to 15 years. This paves the way for future growth in passenger and cargo traffic at MIA, which is projected to serve 77 million travelers and more than 4 million tons of freight by the year 2040. The comprehensive plan includes developing a strategy to digitally transform the way design consultants and contractors develop their projects using building information modeling (BIM), including the asset information that eventually will be handed over to MIA so it can be integrated with an enterprise asset management system for future operations and maintenance. This lecture will include the overall strategy to ensure all project information follows MIA standards to produce data consistently.
