Tagging Bridge Elements

Tagging Bridge Elements

Since we have basically imported an entire bridge from Infraworks into Revit, we had to do some mapping so Revit can understand what it was we are actually looking at. That being said, we are going to look at how to tag these hybrid components!

- Open the model you have been working in.

- Go to the South elevation.

- Zoom in and select Pier 1 as shown below.

- In the Properties, select Edit Type.

- Scroll down to Type Mark and type P-1

- Hit OK.

- Select the footing under the pier.

- Click Edit Type.

- For the Type Mark, enter F-1

 - You get the pattern. Do the same thing for the rest of the piers and footings.

 - In the South Elevation, Go to the Annotate tab, then click Tag by Category.

- On the Options bar, click on Leader and select Free End.

- Pick a point on the pier, then a second point for the leader elbow, then pick a spot to place the text. See the image below:

  - Select the tag.

  - Click Edit Type.

 - Change the Leader Arrowhead to Arrow Filled 15 Degree.

 -  Let’s modify the actual tag family now. Select the tag, and click Edit Family.

  - Select the 1i label and click Edit Label.

  - On the left category, scroll down until you find Type Mark and click the green Add button.

  - Next to Type Name, click the Break check box.

 - In the Type Mark field, add a ( for the prefix, and a ) for the suffix. This will put the type mark in prentices.

 -  Click OK.

 -  Click Load into Project and Close. You don’t need to save the changes.

  - Select Overwrite the existing version

 -  Repeat steps 11-23 for the foundation tags.
