Understanding the cloud database
As an administrator, you will be able to explain the advantages of using a cloud database.
Cloud capability is included with InfoWorks ICM versions 2024.0 and up.
Support for database and engine versions going back to 2023.0.
Info360 cloud environment:
- Manages all cloud data and simulations
- Secure within AWS—refer to Info360 security guidelines for details.
Can select Americas, Europe, or Asia Pacific for secure data hosting.
Info360 Cloud Model Service:
Included in all InfoWorks ICM subscriptions.
- Visible as an entitlement at manage.autodesk.com.
- Administrators can click Access and set up the Hub.
- Allows licensed users (version 2024.0 and later) with internet connection to connect and work on cloud databases.
More information can be found on the Create Hub and Activate Subscription Help page.
One installer for each product:
- Installs full capabilities to work both on-premises and in the cloud.
- For more detailed information on how to get started with cloud capabilities, refer to the InfoWorks ICM Help site. There is a specific Help page on Cloud Connection Requirements, including proxy server configurations (should be actioned before attempting to connect to a Cloud database).
Database specifics:
Software allows users to switch freely between standalone, workgroup, and cloud databases.
Simulations must be run from the location where the database is hosted.
Cloud simulations are restricted to quota.
Transferring data via transportable database:
Nearly all data can be copied/transferred from on-premises to the cloud using a transportable database.
- Preserves history and relationships the same way as copying on-premises databases. Some limitations exist.
- See the Limitations and Issues Help page for up-to-date information.
The interface of working in the cloud and on-premises is nearly identical, except for some key details.
