Project | Design and 3D print a device stand
Design an adjustable device stand in Fusion that can be customized to hold any smart phone or small tablet.
Module overview
Design a functional device stand with an attractive organic shape, complete with built-in storage capacity for smartphone or tablet accessories. Use your CAD skills and knowledge to create a 3D model using sketches, add dimensions and geometric constraints, apply fillets, analyze interferences, and 3D print the completed project. As an additional challenge, create a new subassembly for the base of the device stand that contains alternate storage solutions and an emboss feature that applies text to the model.
After completing this project, you’ll be able to:
- Design a customizable solid model using 2D sketches.
- Use Plastic tools to create a self-locating snap fit between two shelled bodies.
- Import an existing Fusion design that can be modified in the context of an assembly.
- Use the Offset Face tool and add joints to create a realistic representation of a working device stand.
- Prepare the model for 3D printing.
