- CMCecile MathijsenCecile Mathijsen was born 28 years ago in a little village in the south of the Netherlands. After finishing high school, she moved to the city of Utrecht to study for a bachelor's degree in Human Geography and Urban Planning. Soon Cecile figured out that Urban Planning was her trigger. The world we live in today challenges to find innovative ways of urban planning. Cecile liked the process of combining, analysing, and visualising information for this purpose. Therefore, she started a master's degree in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and learned a lot about different disciplines within geographical information management such as remote sensing, laser scanning, programming, data mining, and 3D visualisations. After finishing her master's degree, Cecile started working at a land surveying company as a business developer and junior project manager. Knowing a lot about analysing data, she wanted to learn more about gathering that data. For 4 years she has worked on projects concerning land surveying, applying different 3D laser scanning techniques. She did some application development and monitoring during construction, and worked with different Autodesk products during this time. Cecile always had a great interest in working with 3D models and point clouds. When the job offer as a BIM director at Heijmans came by, she did not refuse. Since September 2018, Cecile works as a BIM director on Schiphol airport and in the reconstruction of the Wilhelmina-lock in Zaandam in the Netherlands.
