Append 3D Models into Navisworks

This unit will teach you how to import 3D models into Navisworks.

Any referenced datasets can be downloaded from "Module downloads" in the module overview.

Append 3D Models into Navisworks - Exercise

  1. In the Home tab>Select & Search panel, click Selection Tree to open the Selection Tree window. 
  2. In the Home tab>Project panel, click Append. 
  3. In the Append dialog box, verify that Files of type is set to All Files (*.*). 
  4. Navigate to the Model Coord Navis Dataset folder (from the supplied dataset). Hold <Ctrl> and select the rac_advanced_sample_project.rvt, rme_advanced_sample_project.rvt, rst_advanced_sample_project.rvt files. 
  5. Click Open. 
  6. Use the ViewCube to rotate the model to see the 3D view of the building.



  7. In the Selection Tree, you can verify the model’s units, origin, rotation, and scale. Right-click on one of the files and select Units and Transform…



  8. In the Units and Transform dialog box, review the information of the selected model and click OK.
  9. Close the model and do not save.
