Step-by-step:

Once you have created a GIS exchange cluster in anticipation of updating a model, you may need to update the exchange cluster to use a new GIS database. Instead of using the GIS Gateway, you can use a tool in the DB Editor to preserve the active field mappings. By editing the updated GIS data path using this method, the GIS field mapping will not be reset, which is what happens when you select a new GIS data source inside an existing GIS exchange cluster.

  1. Open the appropriate .aprx file in ArcGIS Pro.
  2. From the ribbon, InfoWater Pro tab, Project panel, click Initialize.

In this example, the GIS exchange cluster has already been configured for new pipe creation. To update the GIS exchange cluster:

  1. From the InfoWater Pro ribbon, Edit panel, select DB Editor.
The InfoWater Pro ribbon, Edit panel, with DB Editor being selected.
  2. In the DB Editor, Data Table, select Advanced Application Data (for Advanced Users) > GIS Gateway Cluster.
  3. Click OK.
The DB Editor, Data Table, with the Advanced Application Data folder expanded and GIS Gateway Cluster called out.
  4. In the DB Editor, expand the Database column width to view full file paths.
  5. In the Database column, adjacent to the PIPE_UPDATE exchange cluster, double-click the PIPE_UPDATE file path.
  6. Then right-click it and select Copy.
The DB Editor, with the Database column width expanded, the PIPE_UPDATE file path selected, the submenu displayed, with Copy selected and called out.
  7. In the Database column, double-click the PIPES file path.
  8. Then, right-click it and select Paste.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click Exit.
The DB Editor with the PIPE_UPDATE file path copied and pasted to the PIPES file path and the Save command called out.

To verify the changes:

  1. On the ribbon, InfoWater Pro tab, Edit panel, click GIS Gateway.
The Edit panel of the InfoWater Pro ribbon, with the GIS Gateway command selected and called out.
  2. In the GIS Gateway dialog, GIS Exchange Cluster section, select PIPES > Edit.
The GIS Gateway with PIPES selected and Edit highlighted.

Note: In the GIS Exchange Cluster dialog, the GIS Data Source now displays the updated file path set in the DB Editor.

  1. In the Field Mapping tab, review the Networks/GIS Data Field Mapping list to verify that the field mapping remains in place: GIS Fields COMMENT, INSTALL_YR, MATERIAL, LENGTH, and DIAMETER should all be present.
The GIS Exchange Cluster with the correct GIS Data Source and verified Field Mapping.

By updating the file path in the DB Editor, these field mappings from the PIPE_UPDATE cluster are preserved. If the GIS data source were updated directly within the Exchange Cluster dialog, all the field mappings would be cleared, and all the fields would need to be remapped.

  1. Click OK to exit the Exchange Cluster dialog.
  2. Click Close to exit the GIS Gateway.
