00:03
To improve the efficiency of a layout in Factory Design,
00:07
you can move stations and adjust routing properties.
00:10
Based on transportation analysis, in this tutorial, you improve material flow by moving stations and adjusting routing properties.
00:18
To begin, in AutoCAD, navigate to and open an existing DWG file.
00:24
To follow along with this tutorial, open the file Material Flow Analysis_002.dwg,
00:33
which already has stations, products and routings, as well as transportation data.
00:38
For this example, swap the locations of Station 2 and Station 5.
00:44
In the Command Line, type “Move” and press ENTER.
00:49
In the layout, window select Station 5 and its connector, and then press ENTER.
00:56
Click to place an origin point, then move the station and connector to a new location at the left side of Station 2.
01:05
Press ESC.
01:07
Repeat the Move command to move Station 2 to the original Station 5 location,
01:13
and again to move Station 5 to the original Station 2 location.
01:18
Now, on the Factory tab, Layout panel, select Transportation,
01:25
and review the total time and distance it takes for the materials to run through this new configuration.
01:30
Remember, because locations are approximate,
01:33
your total time and travel distance may vary.
01:37
Next, try adjusting some routing properties to see the effect on material flow.
01:41
Open the Material Flow and Factory Properties browsers.
01:46
In the Material Flow Browser, Routings tab, select the Operation: Panel Machining node.
01:53
In the Factory Properties palette, Material Flow Object tab, Properties section,
01:60
set the Operation Type to Panel Machining.
02:04
Repeat these steps to select the following operations in the Material Flow Browser
02:09
and make the corresponding setting changes in the Factory Properties palette:
02:13
Select Operation: Robot Line (Drilling and Joining)
02:18
and set the Operation Type to Drilling/Joining.
02:22
Select Operation: Planning Station
02:26
and set the Transportation Type to ForkTruck.
02:30
Select Operation: Panel Machining
02:33
and set the Transportation Type to ForkTruck.
02:37
On the Factory tab, Material Flow panel, run the transportation analysis again,
02:42
and review the total time and distance it takes for the materials to run through the new configuration.
