Step-by-step guide

When performing a surge analysis in InfoSurge Pro, the output data can be customized in several ways. This example creates a surge pressure profile, and then animates it to see a visual representation of the results.

  1. Double-click the desired project .aprx file to open ArcGIS Pro.
  2. Click the InfoWater Pro tab to open the InfoWater Pro ribbon.
  3. In the Project panel, click Initialize.
  4. From the Model Explorer, click Run Manager.
  5. In the Run Manager dialog box, switch to the Surge tab.
  6. Click Run to perform a surge analysis.

  1. Once it completes, click OK to close the dialog box.
  2. From the ribbon, View panel, click Report Manager.
  3. In the Report Manager dialog box, click New.
  4. In the Output Report/Graph dialog box, under Available Output Sources, make sure *Active*:Surge is selected.
  5. From the Graph Report tab, select Surge Pressure Profile.
  6. In the Data Scope group box, enable Selected Element(s) <.
  7. Click Open.

  1. When prompted, in the model, select the following pipes:
  • 9_PUMP_AA1
  • 9_PUMP_AA2
  • 10
  • 11
  • 110

  1. In the map, right-click and select Enter.
  2. Back in the Report Manager dialog box, click the Surge Animate button to view an animation of the surge results.

In the Surge Animate dialog box, several options are available for customizing the view of the animation, as well as controls to play and pause it.

In the Surge Animate dialog box, the surge pressure profile for the selected pipes now represented as an animation, including color-coded psi ranges.

  1. Use the scroll bar to shuttle through timesteps in the simulation.
  2. Alternatively, in the Report Manager, before clicking the Surge Animate button, expand the time drop-down and select a specific timestep.
